Some suggestions:

1). With machine powered down, take the hard drive out and examine the pins
(make sure none are bent).
2). Reseat HD/Caddy assembly. When mine is not 'seated' properly I get
similar 'symptoms' are yours.

In summary, just some basic sanity actions wrt your disk drive.

Subject: [Thinkpad] T4x power plug repair: The Second Act

I got the T4x back yesterday. It had supposedly shipped Friday, so I'd been
expecting it Monday or Tuesday, and called Tuesday when it hadn't appeared;
they checked and apologized, said it hadn't made the Friday cutoff, so had
gone out Monday. Ok.

I was out of town when it arrived, but just got home, put the hard drive and
battery back in, and booted. I got the Thinkpad logo and "Press Access
IBM..." but nothing else. Rebooted and went into the BIOS, which saw the
hard drive. Rebooted again and hit F12, which got "Preparing Boot Device
List" and nothing else for a LONG time, then finally offered the CD or the
HD. Then it booted from the HD, but weirdly. And I have no keyboard or
mouse.

"It was working [other than having to hold the power cord in place] when it
left..."

I'll call them tomorrow. Since my understanding is that getting at the power
plug is basically a full disassembly, it's hard to see how this *isn't*
their doing. We'll see how they handle it...
