Hello,

I have not noticed any stuttering with the SSD. It is working fine. I checked
out the OCZForums. I had to upgrade the 1.3 firmware in the SSD to 1.4 for the
TRIM support. The upgrade worked without problems or data loss. I read the
good reviews on this SSD and Microcenter is having a sale/rebate on them.

I have to remember to look for the x64 versions of programs although the x32
stuff works. Virtual PC is a feature of Windows 7 and they use it for a "XP
Mode". This feature is only on the Professional and Ultimate.

After installing the Lenovo Power Manager I ended up with two sets of battery
information on the task bar. I turned off the system icon for power as the
Lenovo one is more visible.

I use Verizon EVDO and installed a new version of the VZAccess Manager. One
new feature is the EVDO shows up under the network system icon and I can
connect and disconnect without bringing up the VZAccess Manager. It also shows
wireless networks. This works similar to the NetworkManager applet I have in
KDE on my Debian Linux systems. So I may not bother with Access Connections if
it becomes available.

I use UltraVNC through a VPN to get to my work computer. I did not use the
built-in VPN stuff as I have a Cisco VPN profile file for the settings. I
tried Version 2.1.5-RC4 of the Shrew Soft VPN client since it works in Win7 and
can import Cisco Profile files. I had no problems connecting to my work
computer. I only get the mailing list at work so I am using UltraVNC and VPN
to send this message.

With 32GB USB Flash drives available I am thinking about using one for my
Rescue & Recovery Backup if possible. I like having the backup off disk. The
Blue ThinkVantage button still works and launches R&R. It has the backup,
restore, webbrowser, etc. I was concerned about losing a lot of rescue
features and laptop utilites by going to a newer OS. The Function keys and OSD
work for the few things I tried. So far it is like the laptop came with Win7.
It is great that Lenovo provides Win7 support for slightly old laptops like the
T61.

Your clients must not be using Intel or OCZ Vertex drives. There are a lot of
bad SSDs out there (including older OCZ models) but the Vertex is a very peppy
drive. I have the 60GB model running in a small server and it is nice and fast.

Eric, if you haven't done it already, be sure to check the OCZ site for
firmware updates.

We have a lot of clients installing several different SSD brands and models
on a variety of laptops... HP, Sony, Compaq, ASUS... They all report the
SSD installs are definitely slower... But they like the security factor...
no damaged data from impact to hard drives or laptops... but theirs have, so
far, been Windows XPH and XPP restore disk installs... and smaller drives
than they had with EIDE or SATA drives.

Since you report flawless installs, I assume you detect no problems with
slower speed or operation.

Could you comment on speed and data storage, please, if you have had an
opportunity to give them a good trial.
