Thanks Alex, Jason, and those who replied by email. I decided to take
the coward's way out and not use the adapter. :)

What do the experts here recommend? I can live with something that
only works with the X300, though handling both it and the T41p would
be nice (the former is easier to deal with in a travel situation).

When I first got the X300, I considered the Lenovo slim adapter, not
so much for the DC capability but because it would fit in my bag
better than the thicker stock one. But I saw reviews that said it ran
really hot and thought that wasn't a good idea.

Does anyone here like (or dislike) the Lenovo "90W Ultraslim AC/DC
Adapter" [#41R4493]? It's $120 at lenovo.com ($111 shipped at Amazon,
another is $88, though item #40Y7630; $116 shipped on eBay). So it's
not cheap, might work with X300 but not T41p, and the reviews say it's
heavy warm and buzzes. That said, slim is good.

Can anyone advise? Is the Lenovo brand better than a Targus or
Kensington in terms of build quality or reliability? (Kensington at
least seems to make a thin one, though the ones with auto capability
seem to be almost a kg!).

[BTW, if I posted this already, sorry, I can't see it in the list
though I remember writing a lengthy follow-up].

Thanks!

It's in the power range for the X300, but no idea if any of the tips select
20V. The T41p, it'll probably run, but I wouldn't run the machine and charge
the battery at the same time. [email protected] is only 42Watts, although [email protected] is
56W, and I can't remember which my T23 takes. (Thinking 12V for some reason)

Might consider that thing for my EeePc though...

I have a Kensington "Universal 70W DC Power Adapter" (model 33195)

which works with cigarette lighter or emPower (airplane) input. I got

it a few years ago.

The spec is:

Input: 11 to 16V DC

Output: 3 to 24V DC (different tips)

Output: 3.5A max

Output: 70W

The compatibility chart doesn't list Lenovo as a brand, but for IBM it

includes the T41 and X40 (highest T and X numbers), all using the "N2"

tip. The product doesn't seem to be mentioned on Kensington's

site so there's no updated chart, though the Finder tool recommends

model 33196, 120W but looks otherwise the same.

What's the chance my 70W adapter would work in the car with my T41p

and X300 (not at same time of course)? The X300's adapter outputs 20V

and 3.25A.

Thanks!
