Hello, Which version of Microsoft Windows are you running? There are some System Tray/System Notification Area/Notification Area tweaking programs, but then tend to be Windows version-specific.
I, on the other hand, just cheat: I create a folder named "Startup - Optional" off the Start Menu for all users, then move the following items into it: o Any shortcuts in the Startup folder o Any programs run from the following registry keys: [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] (the last one only appears in 64-bit versions of Windows) I then delete all of the programs in those locations, except for those I want to run every time the computer boots. How is it working so far, you might ask? On my desktop PC, I currently have two programs in the Startup folder, two entries in the second registry key and twenty-six programs in the "Startup - Optional" folder. I don't want to remove these programs, just do not want them to appear in the system tray. I've set these icons to 'Always Hide' in the Taskbar properties, and they still appear. Is there a way to solve this? Thanks! -- Kind regards, Bernard Chan
