The boot order is set to USB, CD, HD.

My flash drive flashes a couple of times after the boot menu has gone and then
carries on booting to the next device.

Im not sure if my device is a working bootable as at present I have no other
machine to test it on.

Try googling "make usb bootable". There are a ton of results. Find some Linux os to try first.

That doesn't tell us what you tried or didn't try, or how far you got. :-)

So... After powering up the machine, did you press F12 at the ThinkPad logo
screen to get the boot order menu?

If you did that and set it to boot from the USB drive, have you confirmed
that your USB drive is indeed bootable, by testing it on another machine?

Hi

Does the R31 boot from USB?

It should do apparently. According to the bios it can boot to usb floppy. I
cant get it to boot to my USB flash drive.
