If you want a system with UXGA I have an old A21p sitting around that I
would sell. It is in very good condition. The only problem is one of
the screen latches doesn't latch any more, but it has two so the screen
stays shut. Display-wise it is perfect. But, it is not recent
technology. :-)
I, too, have long been a fan of high resolution displays. I loved the
1600x1200 in the A21p and in later systems have tried to get 1920x1200
whenever possible. The change to low-res and 'HD' resolutions just
sucks, in my opinion.

Thanks all for the comments, it seems that the UXGA are fairly rare, and in
some cases at least, undesirable. I am coming from a T43 with the IPS
screen, now using it side by side with a MacBook (!) and the Mac strains my
eyes, it is unbelievably inferior. For e the keyboard and screen are the
two main distinctions that make a notebook usable as an all around machine,
I am prepared to give up some speed and responsiveness for good
user/machine interaction.

Alex,
Yes, it would work with some finagling. I had both R50p and T43p with
those QXGA LCDs.
Although I've been using pretty much nothing but UXGA (1600x1200) on my
main machines for the past decade, QXGA proved to be too much for me.
YMMV.
Cheers,

I don't know about you, but 1366x768 resolution on a 15.6" LCD is

I agree - I find 1366x768 on my 11.1" LCD to be about perfect. On a 15"
display, it's lower pixel density than many desktop monitors.
A while ago, I found a 15" 2048x1536 display on Ebay from an R51 and
found myself wondering if it could go into a 15" T42, since they did share
one potential display part number. To me, that's the pixel density I'd want
on a mobile machine.
