My two centavos:

Although the T60 series are 5 years old, they are a significant improvement
on the T4x models.

I'll echo what everyone else has said about heat issues with the T60P
models. For what it's worth, I don't think the heating issues have improved
with my daughter's newer T402(?)S laptop.

If you don't need discreet graphics, don't get it. If you do, haul around
a USB-powered cooling pad and/or ice packs.

The build quality is a significant improvement over the T4x frames with the
T6x chassis providing a rock-solid stable platform. Because the chassis is
solid and the keyboard follows the traditional Thinkpad design,
touch-typists can pound away without any fears.
