I would recommend downloading our release candidate (http://people.apache.org/~todd/thrift-0.2.0-incubating-rc0.tar.gz) or the latest instant release (from http://instant.thrift-rpc.org/), and trying with those. Skip the bootstrap.sh step and go straight to ./configure.
