I have the same problem.  I can't send html emails nor attachments.  The error I get with both is . . .

    An error occurred while sending mail.  The mail server responded: Can't send  HTML email. Please check the message and try again.

I've also attached a screen shot of the error.

Has anyone gotten this to work?
