I am not sure what you mean by Yahoo clearing the login failure every 24 hours. I must admit I have not given much time to considering whether running in virtual machines might have some effect too.
However, I have two US based yahoo.com accounts set to check for new messages every 10 minutes using the Yahoo Webmail add-on. Been working happily this way for years apart from the times Yahoo make a change and the Webmail Author has to play catch-up. I do believe that Yahoo will get nasty if the re-check rate is very frequent but I have never seen any issues with 10 minutes causing the effect you seem to observe. Nevertheless, your recommendation may help some users, always worth a try when there are problems.
