The problem seems to be with MS changing the website. The hotmail is not currently marking the messages as read for some reason. It only happened to me after I agreed to the Terms and Conditions that were posted on the Hotmail site. Sending of mail via the hotmail extension is also giving problems due these changes. These changes has really done a number on the extension but the webmail author should be able to get this fix fairly soon.
