Since you're using linux, you need to use port numbers higher than 1024.
I use 5110 for pop and 5025 for smtp.

I downloaded and intalled the WebMail plugin as well as the Hotmail
and Yahoo plugins. The gmail one seems pointless since Thunderbird
will already retrieve that. I installed all three and have restarted
Thunderbird. When I open the WebMail Options I am showing errors

Does anyone have an explination for this? I have not enabled the
firewall in linux. It is a fresh install with only the updates it
wanted, cairo-dock, and chrome installed...
