OK. Just wondered. Perhaps time that Mozilla developed an upgrade to Thunderbird for Mepis. I understood that Yahoo! now offered free POP access to all, perhaps I was mistaken.

As to why I am "stuck" with Thunderbird 2.0, that is what is available
for Mepis 8.0, my operating system.

Mepis 8.0 works nicely for me. As does Thunderbird 2.0. It's not
reasonable to have to update an operating system that I like so I can
update an e-mail client that works just fine so that I can upgrade two
extensions that are apparently compatible only with a version of
Thunderbird that has been out in final form for a month.

With regard to the free POP e-mail from Yahoo, it's not available in the
US, and it's not a matter of fudging your address on Yahoo's website to
get around that. I tried. It appears that they check the originating IP
address.

I would guess that you are correct, old versions of the extensions cannot connect due to the changes made by Yahoo!. I would also think it unlikely that new versions compatible with an obsolete version of Thunderbird will be produced. Why are you stuck with Thunderbird 2.0, can you not upgrade? If you must stay with 2.0, could you use the free POP access that Yahoo! provides instead of the extensions?

POP and STMP servers not connecting to yahoo.com.

Went to check for new versions of webmail and webmail-yahoo. Two on the site, listed as being for Thunderbird 2.0. So I downloaded them. deleted the old versions, and tried to install the new versions, only to discover that they are for Thunderbird 5.0 ONLY.

Why would you post versions that are for Thunderbird 5.0 and state that they are for 2.0? Not amusing.

So I chased around and found the xpi files for webmail 1-3-1 and Yahoo 1-4-7 and reinstalled them. Still unable to connect to the servers.

Is this due to the new Yahoo version? Will you be upgrading the webmail and yahoo extensions so they are once again compatible with the 2.0 Thunderbird?
