TICTOC conference call - Dec 1, 2008 Participants : In Geneva : Laurent, Silvana, Jean-Loup, Stefano, Sebastien, Helmut, Michael M, Tim F, Stephan Bedrosian, Antti, Alon On bridge : Yaakov, Dominic, Jerome, Anatoli, Karen, Leon, Jeremy, Doug, Danny Stewart could not attend due to the MPLS-TP work running late.
1) Silvana reported that she had not received any new input since Minneapolis. She had previously reported that she had received numbers for the "industrial" application from John Eidson, and will incorporate into the next version. 2) Yaakov relayed that he has been in contact with the ROLL WG chairs, and that he hoped to soon receive the filled in tale for the sensor application. 3) Yaakov reported that his efforts to pin down numeric values for the "legal time" application have been frustrating. On the other hand the security requirements were more clear. Yaakov believes that it would be best to forgo the numeric rows for this application. Karen added that most IETF requirements documents had more functional requirements than numerical ones. The question was raised as to the definition of "legal time", and Yaakov explained that this was a family of applications where the time an event had occured needed to be proven in a secure fashion (i.e. proven in a court of law). It was agreed that we needed to place a definition in the document. 5) Doug said that Greg and he would provide the "NTP" application data within a week. 6) All agreed to drop the power distribution application, as the experts state that they are not planning to use packet networks in the near future. 7) Jerome Dromer said that he could provide information on an application not previously discussed, that of timing for DVB transport networks. These networks need to maintain a consistent frequency, phase, and time, and presently universally use GPS for this purpose. He will send data to Silvana (with cc to the chairs) by the end of December. 8) It was agreed to hold the next conference call once Silvana has had a chance to integrate the new material and issue a new version. This should be during the beginning of January (2nd half of first week). 9) Yaakov stated that he wanted to make this new version a WG draft, and would ask the list. Karent opined that this was not necessary and that the chairs could make the call. Stewart (after the call) agreed with Karen as this draft was truly the product of the group as a whole. 10) Karen reported that due to the holiday season there had not been much work on the arachitecture draft since the Minneapolis meeting. She requested to discuss this draft on a later conference call in mid to late January. Thanks to Laurent for arranging for the room in Geneva for the Q13 participants.
