I tried it and it doesn't work for me.
Left rotation{{twochar{<<edit left.rotation>>}}}
gives the same size as
Right rotation<<edit right.rotation>>
I even copied your StyleSheetShortcuts in case I had an older
version. My TW is 2.6.1. Are there any known conflicts?
