I keep returning to tiddlywiki to do things, but mostly just by pulling down standard bits such as GTD. Trying to understand some of the innards is sometimes ... distracting ...

I now have a need to write a data management ... part of an ... application. I'm not sure if those are the terms to use.

Yes there will be a lot of entries that are just regular text tiddlers but there are a couple of other things I need that I'm on the border of understanding but not quite there. That's what I mean by 'distracting'. I go though web sites and find references to things that aren't there any more or are incompletely documented as to requirements... and stuff like that.

What I'm trying to do is this:

Create buttons, some on the menu, some in tiddlers
  -- I think that 'macros' ?
which create a new tiddler. Now I know that's not a problem in itself, but ... Which are forms.

Now I know there is a template system, but I can't seem to find adequate documentation on how to create a tiddler using a form, perhaps having the button prompt for the name and some fields ... (and fill in the tags automatically too)

*and* *then* *subsequently* *edit* *as* *that* *form*.

And sure, it would be nice to know how to do a for-each to aggregate based on the value of the fields rather than just tags.

Maybe my google-fu just hasn't been up to it, I keep seeing hints but can't pull all this together. Is there a definitive article on using templates in various manners, including this?

Thanks.
