@Jeremy and anyone I'm feeling "platforms" is probably too ambiguous after all. What do you think about "*backend system*" or just "*backend*"? IMO this is a more traditional term for what technology is used behind the scenes and touches both hardware and software and it is associated with how things are saved and stored.
