Jan,

I do not know the answer as I do not currently use tiddlymap. However if 
you can find <$button widgets that define what happens on clicking a node 
you could change or add action widgets including action sendmessage(s). The 
only issue is that you may be changing this from a default behaviour which 
is essential to make tiddlymap work. Where what you may need is a popup on 
click so you can choose your new actions vs the default actions.
