Quickest fix is like:

<$list filter="[tag[not read yet]sort[title]]">

</$list>

Notice that there is exactly one line space between the <$list> and 
</$list> tags. There's a long technical reason for this, which I can never 
keep straight.

The other easy way is to use a macro

<<list-links "[tag[not read yet]sort[title]]">>
