There is some effort underway to fix this, see https://github.com/TiddlyWiki/tiddlywiki/issues/22 However TiddlyWiki was originally designed to be a modular system, so the amount that can be achieved is fairly limited. As Chris mentions elsewhere more can be achieved in a project that is allowed to be incompatible with TiddlyWiki. It's unclear from your original posting what your underlying aim is. It it just to better understand TiddlyWiki? Or is it that you have a requirement for a javascript WikiText parser? If the latter then you may wish to look at one of the WikiCreole javascript parsers (WikiCreole syntax is fairly similar to TiddlyWiki syntax).
