On re-reading your post it was clear after all... my bad.  So yeah I think
the idea makes human semantic sense -- I can imagine saying to myself "and
also.." as I type the dot dot enter.

WikiCreole uses (backslash, backslash); CommonMark uses (space, space,
newline), and (backslash, newline).  I think the motivation to use
WikiCreole where possible might mean that backslash backslash will win out
(or at least backslash backslash newline).

I do like the dot dot newline thing though; optional plugin maybe?
