Jeremy is on the right track; the problem I'm facing here is that the core
already has some field names in use that are "extremely" generic. In
particular, "author", "description" and similar. In my case I would like to
implement an edit module specific to plugin tiddlers only. So if I'm
blocking/hiding author and description fields in general I will surely trip
on a lot of users' toes as such generic-name fields tend to be used in a
lot of different contents.

When going the CSS route, we quickly hit a dead end: in my situation a
plugin tiddler is identified as a plugin through its plugin-type field. So
there is no (system) tag for plugins but instead a certain field is
present. Doesn't exactly look as if clever CSS class identifiers may be
possible, but I may miss a simple trick here.

Maybe the solution here is to switch to a view-template based editor, as
some other plugins do for their tasks. However, I'm not really a friend of
the notion to bring in editing into the view template where it clearly
doesn't belong to...

Best regards,
TheDiveO
