Category: Windows version Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Jernej Simončič (jernejs) Assigned to: Peter Åstrand (astrand) Summary: Keyboard handling in TigerVNC viewer Initial Comment: In the Windows version of TigerVNC viewer, the keyboard handling is somewhat annoying: - with "Pass special keys directly to server" everything works as expected, but then there seems to be no way to switch focus to another application with keyboard only (short of going into options and disabling this; note that this only applies to the legacy viewer - I haven't found a way to get this to work with the FLTK viewer). - when "Pass special keys directly to server" is unchecked (and in the FLTK viewer), strange things happen - eg. if I press the Windows key, both the my local machine and server see the keypress, so the Start menu opens on both. This isn't much of a problem, but when I Alt+Tab to another window, Alt key sometimes gets stuck in pressed state on the server, which is annoying when I start typing there (I've had other modifier keys get stuck as well, but it most often happens with Alt). I don't remember having these problems with other VNC viewers - most simply never passed the keys to the server, while UltraVNC solves this in (IMHO) really nice way: normally special keys aren't passed to the server, but if you enable Scroll Lock on the local computer, the keys get passed.
