I found this mentioned in the archives, but the fix there was to
replace the server package with a different one, except that the
package was for Fedora, and I'm on Gentoo.

Right now I'm getting ÈÆÐ instead of ČĆĐ, while keys Š and Ž don't
produce any character (basically, I'd like to have Slovenian keyboard
layout working on the server).
