There's a similar issue with mills. Many water mills and some windmills are now private homes. I've tended to put these watermills in as building=mill because they are such distinctive buildings, and it explains why a stream goes through it! Some of you may be familiar with this building on the Suffolk coast: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_in_the_Clouds (doesn't seem to have been put on OSM yet). It's the other way round - a water tower disguised to look like a house! man_made=water_tower, building=house_like ???!
