An LT1083 would be OK except that its maximum input output voltage is 30V a little too close for comfort given that the battery output may exceed this, the obsolete LT1083M with a 35V rating would have been OK. The maximum input output voltage occurs when charging the output capacitor on startup or with a short circuit load.
