Another way to dual boot that would be a lot easier than trying to graft
Win98 onto a WinXP drive is to just use another drive for Win98. Even a 1GB
drive would do. Most modern motherboards allow you to select which drive to
boot from. If you do this, I would temporarily disconnect the WinXP drive
while installing Win98, just to be safe. Once things are installed, the two
drives will coexist just fine. In fact, without additional software, the
Win98 drive will not even see the WinXP (NTFS) drive. If you need to be able
to read the NTFS drive from Win98, let me know and I can provide some links.

One other possibility, short of dual booting is to try VMware. The big
question is whether VMware will work with your GPIB interface. If it is
serial or USB, it just might. If you want to try this, the VMware Player is
free. To create a virtual machine configuration, go to the following web
site: http://www.easyvmx.com/easyvmx.shtml. Of course, the full version of
VMware Workstation allows you to create virtual machines directly.

I use VMware Workstation myself, but have never tried it with GPIB
interfaces. Most serial and USB peripherals that I have tried do work.
