I saw that, but (a) the 11729C already did enough damage to the exchequer, and (b) I'm not clear on what an 11848A does for you if you don't have the 3048A system software. I don't believe there is anything in the 11848A box that isn't also in the 11729C, and the 11729 has a lot of stuff (like the microwave downconverter) that is not present in the 11848. Maybe Rick K. or someone familiar with the hardware can speak to that? I already have a few hundred bucks in a 35601A (the 11848A equivalent from the older 3047A noise-measurement system) that didn't turn out to be very practical to mess with, so I'm leery of spending any more money than necessary on equipment that can't be used without writing a lot of code and adding yet more hardware. One nice thing about the 11729 is that it has front-panel buttons that correspond to all of its GPIB features, so I don't *have* to write any code before I can try it out. -- john, KE5FX _______________________________________________ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
