Stan, I'd recommend putting it in open loop and removing top and bottom covers.
Place on it's left side and hook a scope to the tp1 test point on the bottom of the A7 assy. (.5v/cm) Place the scope synch in external and use the variable time base ajust in conjunction with time base step switch to stop the trace from running. adjust the fine quartz freq. adjust back and forth across center frequency. Hopfully you will see a large fundamental signal that collapses to a 2nd harmonic signal at center freq. If so set it at the point for a symmetrical 2nd harmonic signal. If you have at least .5VP-P then adjust the rear pot on the top of A7 for a 2nd harmonic meter reading of 35-40. Now while watching the scope switch to operate. Hopefully the signal will stay at the 2nd harmonic point and you can reset and get an operation light. If it drifts off then you have a problem in the control loop somewhere. (most likely the A9 card) Do check the 3 non hermetic electrolytics on the power supply card to see if they are leaking goo. Any questions please email me.
