Thanks very much for your comments, it was mention of the frequency  jumps 
that concerned me from my archive searches.
 
I certainly couldn't afford to buy them new at list price but I do  have a 
couple on their way, one of each connector orientation and  supposedly new, 
and the fact there is just one of  each already had me wondering if they 
might have originated as  samples.
