I doubt that. LinkedIn provides a facility to import your contacts. You then select which ones you want to invite. They don't automatically spam your entire contact list or there would have been many such 'invites' here. The contact import is not automatic and cannot be as they need the email password to do it. I suspect Scott simply pushed the wrong button.
