An upgrade is out of the question, I use the 486 for radio programming and
replacing it just to see how L-H performs is not in the picture.
T-Bolt Mon does just fine for what I need, so I'll just stick with it.

You're trying to use a fullscreen mode that your video driver doesn't
support. On a 486 laptop I doubt anything but the very lowest resolution
options will work. You may not even have DirectDraw support on there at
all. Time to upgrade, if not.
