Don-- As others have offered, if you're developing for iOS or OSX, you have little choice.
It has a comprehensive suite of tools -- for some, too comprehensive, leading to that old adage about how to eat an elephant -- one bite at a time. The entire Xcode suite has a large learning curve, yet the individual tools are approachable, so you can take it a step at a time.
