I think the problem is that if you are not clear about what your "big picture" goal is then yu only get a bunch od not so helpful comments like "use this is worked for me.".
So what exactly do you want. Are you looking for a very low power, say under 5W server. Something that is very easy to set up and maintain. You have two GPSes, will both go on the same NTP server or do you wnt to set up two NTP servers >From the looks of it NTP will run on either ARM or Atom.
