--------------------------------- I'd bet there is some form of master time tick in their RTOS that keeps everything pumping. Loose the time tick (or the time tick count) and it all goes away… As the onboard computers accumulate radiation induced faults, there's a lot of software patching that goes on to map around the faulty sections.
