Hi Dan,

I have an original HP 3.5" floppy disk with the CK5071A.EXE tool. Contact me
off-list. See pages 61-65 of the 5071A Assembly-Level Service Manual
(05071-90040) for what it does and how to run it. I have not checked the HP /
Agilent / Symmetricom / Microsemi web sites to see if this old tool is still
part of their downloads. It was written in the early 90's and runs on DOS.

Note that most of what it reports is available through the front panel menu/LCD
system, or the SYST:PRINT? SCPI command. IIRC the tool only applies to 5071A
that are operational, so it's not helpful for the typical DOA 5071A you find on
eBay.

A better diagnostic, especially for a failing or broken 5071A, is to set the
log mode to VERBOSE or SERVICE and capture all the output from the RS232 port
during power-up. This is especially useful for failed CBT since you can watch
the firmware trying hard to get a signal from a dead or sick tube. When the LCD
reports nothing more than "fatal error", this verbose log output shows you
everything that lead up to that conclusion.
