well, the Pierce oscillator does not give that much freedom, the steady state loop gain should be Pi (about 3) as the RF Gm = Gmo/pi. This analysis does not address the important SSB noise gut guaranties oscillation. In testing enough a loaded Ql of Qp/2 is best for power matching and good phase noise.
