Hi The one area that the chips have not quite yet taken over is the whole “software defined loop” or digital PLL. A GPSDO is one example of this, there are a number of other odd little niche areas they show up.
Indeed, it’s been maybe 20 years since I put a non-software PLL in a product and it was not done entirely in an IC.
