Are you thinking of the CSAC? Chip Scale Atomic Clock? From Microsemi( nee Symmetricom, from a DARPA contract)

They're in that price range. I've got 4 of them at work that I am about to hook up (well, someone else is going to hook them up) and measure. We're going to launch some into space next spring.

The current part has a very narrow temperature range (0-35C operating, 0-40C non-op).


Since then it has seemed to have fallen off of the radar screen.
Does anyone have any follow-up info?
