What a hoot! I was an engineer for a company in the early 1970's (1972, 73, I think) where we used an Eidophor projector for a large arena crowd projecting the Indie 500 on a huge screen The arena held about 10,000. The technology didn't last for more than a few years as I recall.

"An Eidophor was a television projector used to create theater-sized images. The name Eidophor is derived from the Greek word-roots ‘eido’ and ‘phor’ meaning 'image' and 'bearer' (carrier). Its basic technology was the use of electrostatic charges to deform an oil surface." https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D3-BvMcqEc98&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cd720898b578648fbd62b08d63f7b9f89%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636766197521921210&sdata=L4V5rmgatXykrhBV%2BLDABHzUmsb%2FOPZfb4WkebsejcE%3D&reserved=0 https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FEidophor&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cd720898b578648fbd62b08d63f7b9f89%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636766197521921210&sdata=qn66ZlL8EjI%2FpeRD3qxxzt8qPN5vUEaqTtL4tL%2B6yZA%3D&reserved=0 On 31/10/18 04:39, Joe Leikhim wrote: > This is fascinating.
