The way I understand how the management system works, it's all by IP address only. I believe that the hostname shown in the management interface is simply the reverse DNS name for that IP address. (Possibly stored at the time you've added the server.) Have you checked that the server IPs have proper reverse and forward DNS entries? If they do, I'm sure Ask can tell whether deleting and readding the IPs is necessary for the management system to pick up the (new/proper) names, or whether they will be picked up automatically. The pool will be just the same, as long as the IPs don't change.
