If your system administrator absolutely insists on restricting by IP address, you should * ask him if he has a (reliable enough for your purpose) ntp server in the internal network already, and use that one or * ask him to set up an internal ntp timeserver (this is fairly trivial, as your certainly know, and doesn't need a server of its own since ntp is extremely light-weight.) or * not use the pool, but use one of the official public servers from the time servers list at <http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Servers/StratumTwoTimeServers>. Using fixed pool timeservers by IP address is not recommended and not desired because pool timeservers can go away or change IP address every now and then. (You ask to get the ip address of the pool hostname, which is a rather trivial question - may I recommend that you read some introductions about how Computers and the Internet work and how to use the tools that are available for your computer? Understanding your tools can only help your working with them more efficiently.) greetings from the country of watches Adrian -- featured product: vim - http://vim.org
