> I have the same confusion

A product is a variant on top of a template. There are forms for 'product' and
for the two parts of that, i.e. 'template' and 'variant'.

If you have multiple variants on one template, then using the product form can
then cause confusion because you may be affecting the template rather than the
variant, so affecting other variants/products (see
http://tinyerp.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2507).

The online user documents are the place to start, and you have the code to
review. But, starting out, I found that studying the demo xml files to be most
helpful of all.
