Just a note for anybody reading this thread.... The problem happens when doing a system wide installation because some files (from the new RelaxNG XML validation thingy...) are not copied to the installation directory.
Probably this hasn't triggered to most users because when we test development versions we just do it from a directory at /home/whatever/.... A system wide install of a development version is not guaranteed to work (pre- post install migration scripts, for example are not ready...). In fact... I can point to many revisions on the svn trunk that are not usable... it's a development branch and this means unstability.
