Others have given you a lot of good advice in some detail. 

Here's another path to give you a starting point. Perhaps you should try to 
estimate how much you think the client would pay you and then decide what you 
can achieve for that amount. Does that figure come up with enough functionality 
to meet your idea of the client's needs?

And maybe you would be willing to risk making a loss on this project to get the 
business. That's always a dangerous path to take, but perhaps that's what you 
will decide you need to do on your first projects.
