@tchiboo,

considering your ERP scope (seems small), I would definitely prefer to export
the data, fix them manually or with some tool (like Excell, Talend or Kettle)
and re-import it.

I think what will be the most difficult will be Sales. Other data will be quite
easy to migrate.

A way of doing it is: play with both versions 4.2 and 5 including demo data.
Export the required objects (top menu Form > Export Data in the GTK client) as
CSV. Export data + related objects, for instance while exporting sale orders,
don't forget to also export their linked sale order lines.
Then look how the two format look like.

Export your 4.2 data as CSV and makes it looks like the expected format for
version 5 (adding mandatory fields, completing, renaming things...)

Depending on how good at Excell or other tool you are you could very much
succeed. Start easy with flat data and try to get everything linked properly at
the end.

For a professional coder, migrating this way would be quite easy, but I don't
know where you stand. This is much different than migrating a whole system
including accounting production and stocks.

Good luck.
