Hi! where can i find documentation of mailgate installation in windows enviroment ? (outlook, exchange ...)
Navot
Openerp-Mailgate.py acts as a proxy between your Customers / Partners and your employees/staff. What email client they use is unimportant (Thunderbird, Mail.app, Outlook, webmail(squirrelmail, gmail)). I have no practical experience with Exchange but it talks POP3 and IMAP so as far as openerp-mailgate.py is concerned it will look the same as any other mail server that speaks these protocols. Of more interest there is the interaction between Exchange and fetchmail (or whatever fetchmail work-alike you pick); OpenERP-mailgate.py doesn't ever come in contact with the mail server, it gets a an email delivered from fetchmail. In short it looks like this: Pick an email address that you want to link to a CRM Case Section in OpenErp. In CRM configuration, type this email address into the Reply-to field of that Case Section. Configure fetchmail (or a fetchmail work-alike (getmail)) to check this account for mail. Configuring fetchmail is covered in the docs section of the OpenObject.com site). A Customer/Partner sends an email from any email cleint to the email address that you have chosen to link to OpenERP. Fetchmail gets the mail and passes it to Openerp-mailgate.py for processing. In this situation it is a new case so it creates a new case. If a partner exisits with the same email address as the sender of this email, that Partner is autmatically linked to this case. Default in OpenERP is to leave the Responsible user blank when creating a new Case, so someone needs to assign this case to a user/employee. Once a Responsible user is assigned, within the CRM Case form, you can "Send Partner and Historize" which means "Email Partner and log email to crm_case_history / crm_case_log tables). This email then goes back to the Customer /Partner. Since this is now an exisitng case (which is determined by a combination of subject and a custom header field added by OpenERP), Openerp-mailgate.py will no append this conversation to that existing Case. When the Customer / Partner replies to this email however, the email will now be processed by open-erp, stored in the crm_case_log / crm_case_history tables but also it will be sent as a regular email to the new Responsible user. At this point the email exchange can carry on between your Customer / Partner and your Employee via their email clients of choice, whether that be Outlook, Exchange, Mail.app, gmail, whatever. We customized things a fair bit to automatically assign a Responsible user from a pool of users so that the initial step of manually assigning a Responsible user goes away. After this customization, both your Customer / Partner and your Staff member (the Responsible user) can carry on an email conversation without any regard for OpenERp whatsoever while the history of their correspondence will be captured in the tables of OpenERP. -------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openobject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=32904#32904 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ Tinyerp-users mailing list http://tiny.be/mailman/listinfo/tinyerp-users
