I've read the manual about 10 times on this section and want to make sure I've
got my head around the idea because I think that's part of the problem I'm
having.

I have a herbal supplement business. We have raw ingredients that come in from
suppliers. We mix the raw ingredients into a final product. I need to be able
to track back any problems with the final product back to a tracking number for
the raw ingredients associated with it.

Here's my scenario.
400 lbs of Ingredient A in 50 lb bags with tracking number 12345
200 lbs of Ingredient B in 40 lb bags with tracking number 54321
Final product is a mix of A and B in 5 lb bags.

I need tracking numbers on Ingredient A's 8 bags of 12345-1 thru 12345-8 and
Ingredient B needs 54321-1 thru 54321-5.

I want to mix together 500 lbs of final product that is 300 lbs of A with 200
lbs of B resulting in a 100 5lb bags of final product.

First question.

Because multiple bags (and multiple tracking numbers) of raw ingredients are
used the final product could have more tracking numbers than ingredients,
right?

Second question.

I would use tracking lot numbers on the raw ingredients and production lot
numbers on the final ingredients, right? Do I need to use production numbers on
the raw ingredients or tracking lot numbers on the final products?
