Here is a working fetchmail file:

defaults proto imap
        expunge 100
        fetchall
        mda "maildrop"
        sslcertpath "/etc/ssl/certs"
        sslcertck
        set syslog
        set daemon 300

poll imaps.lifeintegrity.com aka imaps.lifeintegrity.com service 993
        username "allan" password "deleted"
        ssl

First change the mda to something like maildrop or procmail and comment
out the expunge and daemon options. This allows you to test with
fetchmail -k as many times as you want.

Then change the mda to the mailgate. I have not used the mailgate, but
the mda is required to return certain status codes on success and
failure otherwise you may end up with duplicates or dropped messages.

Then uncomment the daemon and expunge options again.

If it is an option for you use IMAP rather than POP. IMAP allows for
lower latency as it can notify fetchmail of new messages, while POP
requires you to reconnect.
