It seems to me that this could be a parser error due to encoding? If I look at my oscommerce tables they are encoded as latin1_swedish_ci, where the parser seems to want to import utf-8. I've tried setting the encoding in the parser to iso-8859-1, but this has no effect.
Any help is appriciated.
